Ideas & Suggestions

No more board members winning prizes.

Nothing bleeds all the fun of a drawing than seeing a member of the board winning the top prize. Especially if he wins it twice in a year.

That is one of the reasons that I have stopped buying raffle tickets as you may have noticed.
On the other hand if a board members buys $10 or $20 in tickets he or she has as good a chance of winning something as anyone else.

I don't know the answer to this but I will bring it up to the other board members.

Thank you for letting us know how you feel. If others post the same I am sure that the other board members will take notice.

When someone buys $10.00 in tickets (12 tickets), they have a good chance of winning. When they buy $20.00 (24 tickets), they have a much better chance of winning something. There are a number of members (not board members) who bought 24 tickets that have routinely won some very nice prizes more than once a year. The same chances apply to board members and members who buy $10-$20 worth of tickets.

The purpose of the drawings is to support the operation of the group and board members usually buy at least $10 every meeting. We don't always win, but we buy the tickets to support a group that we care about. Board members are not paid anything nor do we get any special consideration for any things that are given to the group by sponsors or other vendors. Oh I forgot, we do get a free HDNUG polo shirt that we wear at the meetings and special events so members can identify the board members.

If a board member buys tickets and does not win anything, that would probably be ok with you. ;-) Perhaps you should become a member of the Steering Committee (there are a number of areas where we need help), then you would have a better idea of how we operate or you could volunteer to pull the tickets at the drawing. I don't know how long you have been a member, but do come to the meetings every month if you can. Give it a year and then post your feelings about this issue again. Maybe you will feel differently then.

Have a great day.
